I’ve found a place where you can work at home in the field of your choice, as a freelancer.  If you have skills in the fields of writing, photography, editing, web development, law, sales, engineering, and more, you need to check out elance.com.    Elance.com is a community-based site, where employers post jobs and projects and “providers” (freelance employees) make bids on the jobs.  Employers choose the provider they want to work with, and pay upon completion of the project.

During a recession, there are certain jobs that are considered recession-proof.   This means that no matter how bad the economy gets, people in these fields will still manage to hold onto their jobs.  Some of these require a lot of education (physicians, for instance), while others don’t require as much education or training.
